The 2012 Tour of the Battenkill pedals off this weekend. Cyclists will compete over 60 miles worth of terrain across the Battenkill Valley. Thousands of bikers are expected to take part, including one team composed entirely of people with type one diabetes. "Team Type 1" member Joe Eldridge stopped by YNN to talk about the event.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.Y. -- The 2012 Tour of the Battenkill pedals off this weekend. Cyclists will compete over 60 miles worth of terrain across the Battenkill Valley.

Thousands of bikers are expected to take part, including one team composed entirely of people with Type 1 diabetes. The team is composed of people from more than 20 countries from around the world. "Team Type 1" races around the world, working together to help others with diabetes.

"One of our platforms is to supply testing supplies to the Rwanda community, for people with diabetes, it’s something we have an abundance of here, I have access to all these tools, test strips, insulin, there they don't have access to the tools, they don't have enough," said Joe Eldridge, “Team Type 1” member.
