Some are voicing their concerns over a gun show slated to take place this weekend in Saratoga Springs. Our Lori Chung joined us with more.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Saratoga gun show will go on as planned this weekend and that's not sitting well with some in the community.

One group, called "Saratogians for Gun Safety," is planning a protest, citing the Sandy Hook shooting massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. They originally tried to have the event cancelled. The group believes firearms should not be allowed at a facility that receives public funding.

But supporters of the show disagree. They say the event, which began back in 1984, brings visitors and revenue to the region. They also say fear and emotion are clouding people's judgment.

"I'm surprised with the extent of the opposition. We've been here for 30 years. We're part of the group that built Saratoga," said David Petronis, Saratoga Arms Fair organizer.

"We still don't want them. It's the whole idea of a public space being use where people can bring a lot of guns into town where people can buy them and sell them," said Susan Steer of Saratogians for Gun Safety.

The gun show organizers already made a compromise with protesters. They agreed to not sell any AR-15 rifles at the show, the weapons believed to have been used in Newtown. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
