TROY, N.Y. -- A community came together to support a baby born with a rare heart defect.
The Fight with Heart benefit was held to raise money for young Keaton McGivney. Keaton was born this past October with a rare heart condition known as Transposition of the Great Vessels.
Only hours after being born, Keaton had to have a stint placed in his heart. At just five days old, he had corrective open heart surgery.
The benefit will help to pay for many of the costs not covered by the insurance company.
His mother says that Keaton requires 24 hour care and spends much of his time in the hospital.
"It's overwhelming. It really helps a lot that he was in the hospital too, because everybody on Facebook and it's just incredible and I can't just thank people enough," Taryn Lisicki said.
Local boxer Shawn Miller stopped by to take pictures with other attendees for a small donation. Donations will be accepted at local SEFCU branches. Just tell them you want to donate to Fight with Heart.
