Many questions remain surrounding a deadly fire in Albany this weekend. Our Megan Cruz has the latest from Arcadia Avenue.

ALBANY, N.Y. – The investigation continues into Sunday's fatal fire in Albany. It's still unknown who died in the fire or what caused it.

Police have been guarding the scene at 12 Arcadia Avenue since Sunday morning. No one is allowed in until fire investigators can get back inside.

They'll be looking for clues about where and how this deadly fire started. As to when, that was around 5 a.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, firefighters did an initial search of the house. They believed no one was inside, but after putting out the fire, they found a body in a second floor bedroom.

Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to ID the body.

“When I was first out there, people were saying oh no one was in the house, so it was a sigh of relief. So it was really heart breaking to hear someone lost their life,” said Heather Eckert, a neighbor.

"We have the Albany fire investigators, the Albany police investigators, the Office of Fire Prevention and Control and the district attorney's office all fire investigators here assisting us in investigating this scene," said Robert Forezzi, Albany Fire Chief.

Chief Forezzi is hopeful to get those autopsy results sometime today.
