ALBANY, N.Y. -- Some state office buildings are getting greener. State officials say they're in the process of upgrading several buildings.

The Empire State Plaza in downtown Albany received a $1.3 million upgrade of the steam plant that serves the buildings there.

A $648,000 project to save energy at the 330 acre Harriman State Office campus has also begun. Officials say the Harriman Campus project will save about $220,000 a year in energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The state hopes to improve energy efficiency at state facilities by 20 percent over the next seven years.
