ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Capital Region Economic Development Council held a meeting to update the public on their newest initiatives.

The council sat down with Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy at UAlbany to discuss their plans for year three.

It was the first meeting for new council co-chair UAlbany President Dr. Robert Jones. Jones replaces RPI President Dr. Shirley Jackson, who left the leadership post last year.

Back in December, the Capital Region was rewarded $53.3 million dollars for 84 projects. That was the lowest tier of funding available.

The goal of the council is to improve its efforts to get more funding in 2013.

"I think the first year rounds are successful and I have said that publicly. Nevertheless, our job is to move forward and not look back. That is what we intend to do precisely," said Albany Medical Center ECO and President James Barba.

Since taking office in 2011, Governor Andrew Cuomo has maintained that it’s his priority to change the business climate in New York State. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
