TROY, N.Y. – A report of a gun prompted a lockdown at a school in Troy and lead to the arrests of two people.

Police were called to Tenth Street, near the area of Public School Number Two, just after 1 p.m. Tuesday. The caller reported someone with a handgun and a rifle near the school, which were later determined to be a pellet gun and paintball gun.

According to police, the two people with the weapons were involved in some kind of dispute with students at the school. The school was put into lockdown and police say their investigation led them to a home on Tenth Street. That's where they say they found the two suspects and the weapons.

“Our investigation at this point shows us there was a potential beef going on with a group that was loitering on the school grounds at the same time and our two suspects in this case went back and tried to make their point by bringing their toys, so to speak, back to the school grounds. Definitely not a wise decision on their part and a very serious matter for the police and school staff,” said Troy Police Department Captain John Cooney.

Terrance Huneau, 19, as well as a 16-year-old, have been charged with criminal trespass and unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Police say the school responded appropriately in the situation by calling police and following through with drills that have practiced since the Newtown shooting.
